There are several other things you can try in the endgame.  If you need hints,

What other things might you use to strike at the pirate vessel?
Where might you, personally, be safe from retaliation?
Is there anything compelling you to stay?

Try shooting the pirate with another autominer probe.  You'll have to leave
the ship to survive.
Try ramming the pirate.  Again, abandoning ship will be necessary to survive.
Try flying home.  Not the best ending, but at least you survive.
You can also shoot the pirate with the station after the transponder beacon has
been activated.  You'll take return fire and will have to abandon ship to
survive, but you'll take the pirates out.
