I think I finally reached the time when the screenshots got a lot better! Around page 30 in the list, almost all of the games seem to have somewhat decent screens. So with the exception of those listed in the first post, I think it's safe to say that there are only few games left that need a makeover.

Ah, very good! I have a couple of more, I will upload them and start up the emulators again.

I found a version of Ivanhoe with the title screen intact. Done as well.

What is a good resolution for screenshots of Amiga games? It seems like, there were a number of supported resolutions (depending on your Amiga and if you had PAL or NTSC).

Yes, it depends on the game. The most common resolutions are 320x256 or 320x200. Your emulator most likely uses pixel doubling, i.e. it inflates the resolution by factor 4. Again, though, it depends on the game.

A good way to tell is to simply crop the visible picture, try resizing it to 50% per dimension using pixel resize (no interpolation!) and see if it still looks good. Text on the image shows any defects immediately. Trust me – you will see whether this is correct or not.

The emulator I am currently using runs in a 720x568 resolution

That's because the emulator shows a complete PAL screen to make sure everything will be displayed.

Also, while playing Ivanhoe, I noticed, that there is no title screen. The closest thing to it is an intro screen of King Richard in a cell (see attachment). What should we do in such a case?

What Wandrell said. In this specific case, there seems to be one: http://hol.abime.net/2682/screenshot, but I think I didn't find it back then, either. It's probably a problem with the crack. Closest thing is good.

In case the title screen appears nowhere, as sometimes happen, use the closest thing.

Any recommendations?

Thanks Otaku, and welcome!

Re: Screenshots from the first few seconds:
I know! Actually that is something that is bothering me too. But keep in mind the amount of games and that a really advanced screenshot takes a lot of time (especially for strategy games, where it does take a lot of turns until things get really interesting). Probably I am too impatient. :) Well, I will give my best and try to use cheats and codes to improve the next screens.

As far as I can see, you already did – they are in the queue. All I need to do is push the approval button now so that they become part of my next update (Sunday). Thanks for your work!

As for Diplomacy, that title screen is good, but the main problem, I'd say, is the the other screenshots. They are watermarked by some shareware tool.

In general, when taking in-game shots, it would be great to have something a little more than the first seconds of the game among the screenshots. This goes for everyone, not just Otaku – the Empire Deluxe ones from Herr M. have the same problem, but as you can see, I still put them on the site, because compared to the old ones, they were still a major improvement!

About Diplomacy, there's not much more than what's in there already actually

Here's a screenshot showing the game logo, better than nothing:

The funny thing is, that normally for the screenshot runs I enter "Herr" as a forename... don't know why I didn't come up with it here...

In a game I've been playing recently, I found it appropriate (due to its contents) to enter my name as "Lord Creosote". Only to find that the game had had the same idea, so it addressed me as "Lord Lord Creosote" ;)

Are there any recommendations for SNES-screenshots? I am using ZNES which has a built in screenshot function, but they are limited to a resolution of 256x224 (see attachment). Is this good enough?

This is the system's native resolution, so perfect!

How come you native German speakers couldn't work that out? :P

:embarassed: I blame bad game design. You have two options and have to enter them manually? How about an error message, when you enter something else? Besides, all the other fields in the row say "Ihr" which in German can be either interpreted as a polite form of adress (a more formal "you") or as a possesive pronoun (like "your"). Ah, very confusing!

The funny thing is, that normally for the screenshot runs I enter "Herr" as a forename... don't know why I didn't come up with it here...

Btw: Thank you, Alastair! :D
