First of all i'm glad to see this initiative. as a 40+ year old its certainly a nostalgia bringer.

I do have to say though that the privilege thing is quite annoying. we live in modern days in which we should be able to request data on demand. if this site doesnt offer it like that, others will do immediately. i hope this can be resolved

@macburn,

Hello and welcome to TGO!

Very interesting account! And sorry to know that your "love" had to meet such miserable end, but as they say, s*it happens and you're definitely not alone in this. Congrats on the replacement and looking forward to your contributions!

Hello everyone,

This has got to be the oldest thread I've ever posted to, seeing as the first messages date back to 2002, when I was just a pup in university!

My first love was a Tandy 1000 EX, which my dad purchased at a RadioShack in our native Canada for Christmas 1986, and my first gaming experiences were the various Sierra adventure series, which my family and I would play together in the evenings, trying to crack the puzzles without resorting to the invisible ink hint guide!

Unfortunately, our well-loved Tandy met a sticky end when someone accidentally upended some grape-flavoured liquid into the keyboard in the very early 90s. I briefly revived it for a science fair project in 1994, but sometime after that it passed into the open arms of eCycling.

I recently purchased a replacement EX, and have been having so much fun exploring what the hardware could do originally, and also experimenting with some of the new retro computing developments as well. I've set up a blog to document my explorations, and intend to put together some videos / tutorials about the Tandy 1000 EX specifically. I'm hoping to help others the way others helped me.

I was originally drawn to this site because a lot of the programs I've found online are not contained in disk images, and the Tandy is really meant to be a disk-driven platform. However, on browsing the site and reading about the mission, I am also excited to be able to contribute to a project I wholeheartedly believe in.

Looking forward to becoming a contributing member of this community,

*MacBurn

Hello! I actually joined this site way back in 2013, but got out of the DOS game scene around the same time.

It's 2019 now and I discovered my old account. With the 80's craze still showing no sign of stopping, I'm trying to find obscure early 80's DOS games.

Hi All!
Really good days when apps and games stay on 5,25" or 3,5"

Hello all.

Just your average friendly neighbourhood MS-DOS enthusiast. Started getting into collecting big box PC games recently, and of course, not all disks arrive alive...

Looking forward to hanging out here!

Welcome and enjoy your stay.
