Well, freenode is pretty active and oldschool community no less. For instance, dosbox channel is chock-full. I don't think there will be any problem with that. At least we could get all active TGOD members on there for quick verbal exchange. As long as it fulfills that purpose alone I'm all for it

We occasionally return to this subject but it remains inconclusive. I think the time has come to settle it once and for all. The question is pretty simple: does TGOD need an IRC channel? Do you think it could be useful and potentially broaden our ways of communication?

I personally think it could help with a number of things such as:

- Real-time support
- Occasional visitors could expand our community
- Invitation of local network users could likewise lead to more contributors
- Casual chat and fun

Note: this is not an official project yet, just a tryout since it's very easy to start it without risking anything. If we get more than 5 people at least then we might as well register the channel and advertise it on TGOD itself, which is up to Mr Creosote. As for me, I could personally take care of the channel and assign ops to our most dedicated members.
