Mr Creosote: It was only making a (stupid maybe, ok) joke about the (relatively useless) number at the end of the name - making up a new person called 'Pada2'.

Oh okay, if you don't know what Pada1 means then I can understand why you seem so disappointed (and surprised) that he likes Star Wars...

As far as I know: Padawan = Jedi apprentice ;)

I never play online Multiplaying games since they do suck most of the time but I am anxiously awaiting Star Wars Galaxies (not that I won't be disappointed but hey, one can only hope, right?). As it stands now, it might be a rather good game too... Of course, here also the rule applies that the sooner you start with it, the better...

I used to playgames like Utopia, Dominion, Dystopia, Ambar quite a bit until I got burnout (they're all basically the same). Ever play Netropolis or Grendel's Cave? In Netropolis you play a gangster (1920s type gangs, but with modern tech) and try to gain control over cities. Each city has a certain goal that you have to achieve to move on (certain # of properties or certain ammt of $). Grendel's Cave is more of an RPG.

Another nice concept is Tales of Tamar because there, you don't have to pressure to 'play as much as possible' - it's a turn-based online game. The players claim the problem that you habve to play from the beginning to have the slightest chance does not apply there because big players always need the small ones and thus have to support them. But again, it costs: on a 'per turn' basis. :(

I can just see people roaming the seas with massive fleets just killing people that are starting out. Almost every MMP game where you have to "build up" you must start right when the game launches, otherwise you will die, a lot.

I knew a worthwhile MMP game once, called Paintball Net. It played very much like an independant shareware game, and it was very good and rock solid. To upgrade your player so you actually had a chance was a one time fee of $10, very fair.

Looks good, but I'm not wasting my time.

Question: What's the cost of the game?Answer: For the beta test, every authorized tester can download the client and take part in the beta test for free excluding the cost of your own internet connection.
After the beta test, everyone can download the client for free and test the game for a while. Then after some time you have to pay montly for access to the game server, but more exact information is not available at this time.

A monthly fee for an online game?! Not in this lifetime.
