Member Retired Gumby Posts: 740 | I found an email today with the title Quote: The Good Old Days - Ich habe 3 Bücher über Computer, Spielkonsolen, Telespiele, Tabletops, Handhelds und Taschenrechner geschrieben The body of the email seems to be some sort of ad, but the idiot sent it in german, so I had to use babelfish to see wtf it was. Bis dann Guido Sieverling The return address on the email is tweetee@t-online.de <tweetee@t-online.de> Anyone else get one of these? ----- At the end of the day, you're left with a bent fork & a pissed off rhino. |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11097 | This hasn't been sent through the board, but through the contact form (you automatically got one when you wrote those two reviews) on the site (you can tell from the prefix 'The Good Old Days' which that contact form automatically 'prepends' (?) to the subject). I received the same mail. I agree that this is more or less spam (no idea what this person even wants), but there's nothing I can really do about it. This person must have pasted the same text into the contact form of each person listed on the crew page. If someone manually sends an e-mail to more than one person, it isn't bulk mail in the classic sense, so there's no way to detect it automatically. In any case, you can be sure I'll write an appropriate reply to this guy. Also, you don't really have to worry. In all those years we have this contact form here, this is the very first time it has been used like this. ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! ----- Edited by Mr Creosote at 08:27 on January 14th, 2008 |

I had no idea about any of that. I wasn't even completely certain it came from here (board or site), since it showed the sender's email address (usually email sent through a forum will show as having originated from that forum) It's not a big deal, I can easily filter it. I just wanted to A) make certain this was the source of the problem, B) let you know that something was going on, and C) (if it did come from here) see that the character got dealt with in some way. Normally I would have just added the guy to my spam filter without even thinking about it, but then I noticed "good old days" in the title, and knowing that this is a small community with an active administrator, I figured I should mention it here. ----- At the end of the day, you're left with a bent fork & a pissed off rhino. |
