Some old dutch music for those curious enough:

And opening the performance with...
De Bots - Zeven Dagen Lang
Yes, you're not mistaken, it's the ORIGINAL, not the one played by Scooter, which some of you probably know :)

Het Goede Doel - Iets Van Gevoel
Normaal - Oerend Hard
Klein Orkest - In De Wolken
Toontje Lager - Net Als In De Film
Doe Maar - De Bom
Herman van Veen - Ik Ben Vandaag Zo Vrolijk
Bloem - Ik Wil Alleen Bij Jou Zijn

The weird and really cool thing about Dutch, which I always loved about that particular language, is, that it sounds just familiar enough to German, that I think I understand what they are saying/singing, while it still sounds "exotic". E.g. in Zeven Dagen Lang, I am almost sure they are singing about drinking seven days long… but then again I guess there are some details I am missing. :)

Nice 80ies vibes by the way.

No, you're absolutely right, that's exactly what they sing about, but there is a socialist/communist connotation to it: drink together, work together and have all the good stuff equally shared among everyone. I'm not dutch, but i happen to know some of it, and yes, i agree, there is a certain beauty in the sound of it.

I discovered this great music when i invested some time in studying the language, talking to people, which was indeed a little eccentric on my part, but now i totally not regret it, cause this stuff is great and brings back nice memories. Sometimes you just have to do something weird in order to get a new life experience, which would otherwise sneak right past you. :)

Heh.. who would've thought that a non-native would ever post them on here, unless you're.. like.. my historical compatriot ;) Otherwise i see no reason why you would even know about them, since it's mostly russians and former soviet members who are not by any chance familiar with such old pop stars. Confess: you do speak russian, don't you? :)

I stumbled onto the song on youtube years ago (don't even remember how). I really liked both the song & the hottie singing it, unfortunately it wound up getting removed from youtube (rather ironic that a vid from russia, an infamous haven of copyright infringement gets taken down based on infringement claims), I've since had to try finding it on other sites.

Well confession time: When I was a child, I really liked the following song (don't know if it was this particular video, but it is very much the way I remember it): Zillertaler Schürzenjäger - Zillertaler Hochzeitsmarsch.

Personally i prefer the string quartet version.
Best of Schotter Hansl - Mayrhofer Tanz- Streichquartett Aschenwald
But an retro computer version would be cool too. Somebody should make one.

Somehow you guys made me think of this guy:

Karel Gott - Biene Maja

It always betters my mood, and i can't help smiling when watching/listening to this song, cause even his face is funny :)

Some old weird shit:

Jozin z Bazin

And several parodies of that very song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCbx5lH3hxI (Serbian)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZPSTeDN2HI (Lithuanian)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfY1mMd8jlc (German guys i think, but singing in czech)

Tell me which one is the funniest ;)

A few ridiculous oldies:

Cliff Richard - Congratulations (This one is my no. 1 trolling track in case someone feels like sharing their success with me)
Merf Griffin - I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts (And just what in god's name is that song about?! Always thought there is some sexual connotation to it)
James Baskett - Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah (Seems like hippie movement began much much earlier, in like 40s. And i want his drug bad.)
Wim Sonneveld - Catootje (A dutch children song which may seriously drive you nuts, especially if played over 5 times)
