Member Zombie Gumby Posts: 3881 | To whom it may concern... I've been contributing for a while, and seeing no quick progress i've decided to extend a helping hand to both the floppy manager of the site (Wandrell is the name presume) and those who are willing to contribute further without walking in my footsteps. Most of the games i've uploaded since June up till now haven't gone online yet, possibly due to lack of input on my part, since i never really comment on my actions, or perhaps due to someone's heavy schedule, but now i think is a good time to let other people know what i've submitted so far, since the list has got quite bulky and i don't want anyone to search for anything which is virtually already in. Now, first thing i wanna do is to attach a list of all the images which i have sent through (automatically updated with every new upload), but are awaiting verification. There might be some duplicates though, sometimes it's just inevitable, but it's not crucial at this point. Anyway, done. And second thing, i would like to let you know that: 1) New Quest for Glory IV dump is now perfectly clean and is meant to replace the existing one shared by BillyH666 earlier. His submission was a little flawed from the start, some of his disks were in pretty bad shape and couldn't be read. I know it, cause i guided him a bit and helped him out with the missing parts using non-image game installation files perfectly identical to those of the damaged disks. Still, the images he made have at least modified folder timestamps, which i warned him about, but... anyway, the game version is exactly the same and it's an entirely new dump, no tinkering involved. 2) Now we have Gabriel Knight: Sins of Fathers dump which had bad disk 3 and 9, but i fixed them nicely, again, using non-image installation files which took me a great effort to find. Timestamps unmodified, not sure about the rest, you might wanna take a look yourself. Looks good to me though. That's it for now. If any questions i'd be glad to answer them. Over. ----- Cheer up! Member Zombie Gumby Posts: 3881 | Announcing new submission. Please, check the attached file. All new contributions as of now shall be automatically appended to the primary list on very top of the thread. The major highlights of the current update thus: 1) Ultima 7, 6 x 3.5''. All disks are present as opposed to image set currently online. 2) 2 different dumps of Wing Commander: Privateer, one of which has to be intact. Incidentally, i urge someone to rename "Privateer" to "Wing Commander: Privateer", cause that's its correct name, as a matter of fact. ----- Cheer up! By the way, can you dump each disk 1 of Pit Fighter by Teledisk (2.1x) or Kryoflux again? Because each disk 1 must be copy protected. So Copy protected sector must be dumped. But the each disk 1 must be dumped with twice. ----- Edited by ibmpc5150 at 02:40 on August 23rd, 2015 |

Member Zombie Gumby Posts: 3881 | I'm aware of proper dumping methods, but the problem is, none of these are made by me. I don't own a single floppy disk and i simply snatch ready images from all parts of the net and submit them for further examination. And no, it's not an easy job, as you yourself probably know, and i spend a lot of time seeking those out. However, i also know that any dump for the lack of better options will do. So if it works at least it ought to stay in until better version arrives. But if it doesn't.. oh well, blame it on the original dumper. ----- Cheer up! I found that Pit Fighter seems to accept a few of Key Disk. (Example : Lemmings) |

Well, maybe you can use their copy protection sectors... not sure how authentic that would be, but if it works it has to be 100% identical. Unless it's yours, of course. Quote: Just wanted to comment that I've been going through the floppies. I'm not going as fast as I would wish, but a good bunch of them have already been processed. Member Prof Gumby Posts: 486 | >But i uploaded only ony Ultima 7 version. Where did you get the other one? Unless it's >yours, of course. I also have version 3.4 of it, unfortunately disk 1 was broken on any sectors. (Disk 2 and 6 are identical with yours.) I did fix (recover) disk 1 correctly with your disk 1. (Of course your disk 1 is modified on Boot ID, but this is very small problem and it can be fixed easily.) Ultima 7 : The Black Gate (v3.0) --> (03-12-1992) Ultima 7 : The Black Gate (v3.4) --> (06-03-1992) <-- Your uploaded version. http://www.goodolddays.net/diskimages/id%2C598/ This uploaded version is v3.0 but disk 2 is missing. I've got the all image of v3.0 (include disk 2) and uploaded it on ftp. ----- Edited by ibmpc5150 at 15:21 on August 23rd, 2015 |
