Second dump used advanced compression, but no feedback in the analysis window. Third and fourth dumps were default settings again and again no analysis feedback, but I do have a slightly larger file than the original dump. 337,311 bytes for the original. 337,324 bytes for the new. |

Member Zombie Gumby Posts: 3881 | @AliensOfGold, Ok, same problem. It could be that Teledisk is unable to capture this CP method, after all (I can't remember if we have ever dumped this game successfully using Teledisk), or the disk is somehow damaged exactly in the CP area, which is odd. My ultimate conjecture is, the disk may have been overwritten using wrong tools, which wrecked the CP tracks. This could explain perhaps why dumping the disk with an ordinary tool produced a clean working image, but broken one if dumped with Teledisk. Was the disk write-protected? ----- Cheer up! Member Zombie Gumby Posts: 3881 | @magicman, Added: Dragon Wars (3140): v1.1. Same as ID 203 (Verified) except DATA2 file is strangely different (possibly modified or corrupt). Note: I don't know what it is exactly, but your KF RAW sector map only showed some last modified tracks (no bad sectors). My best guess is, DATA2 file may be carrying the protection segment, which was removed manually (cracked). @escarioth, Added: Keef the Thief (3141): v1.0 Planet X3 (3142): 3.5" version Planet X3 (3143): 5.25" version Quote: can you do something doctor ? ^_^; You're in luck! I happen to have the installation files of this version, which are rare as hell and missing from TDC even! Quest for Glory 4: Shadows of Darkness (3144): v1.1. All I know is that something happened to your disk at some point and I can't imagine what. I added your set just in case, but it's probably corrupt. Need to play both versions through to pinpoint it. ----- Cheer up! Remember the less you have, the more there is to get. ----- Edited by Moebius at 00:38 on August 17th, 2019 |

I doubt this is a corrupt disk, just a different revision of the game files. DATA2 is probably not the only file you see that's different. Comparing files on my disk against another image (not yours. Well, maybe, I don't know. I didn't get it from here, anyway) there are significant differences in the COM files too, like whole blocks reorganized and my version doesn't have Becky's message "Apple ][ Forever!" at the beginning of DRAGON.COM (perhaps it was too subversive for a DOS release). Otherwise identical file sizes and timestamps. This is not corruption or sun spots, just a different disk. |

Member Zombie Gumby Posts: 3881 | Quote: Verified against what? Against another dump with identical hash made by someone later on. That's how we verify image sets. Perhaps, not the best practice ever, but it's the only one we have. Quote: DATA2 is probably not the only file you see that's different No, only DATA2 file is different, I compared all files against ID 203. And by the way, it's not just a few bytes, it's a whole lot of them starting about half way down the code (I don't really know where it ends, I got tired). I wonder if significant changes like that would go unnoticed... Quote: Comparing files on my disk against another image (not yours. Well, maybe, I don't know. Exactly, which makes it even more suspicious. Quote: This is not corruption or sun spots, just a different disk. Fine, it happens, of course, but this case seemed rather weird to me. ----- Cheer up! Member Baby Gumby Posts: 8 | Uploaded Worlds of Ultima: Savage Empire. Noticed it is "unverified." You should find SAVAGE1.IMG a match to your disk01. SAVAGE2.IMG has a different checksum to yours and has timestamps as late as 1990-10-24. Game version is 1.6 and install is successful (no CRC errors unpacking compressed objects). ----- Edited by magicman at 18:19 on August 17th, 2019 |

Member Master Gumby Posts: 131 | Ok back to business. i noticed that some games i forgot to add. Conquest of Camelot : search for the Grail 4 disks - 720k - *Disk 1 had 25% that was completely unreadable... i think you already have the game in unverified status so if its one of the same ill just snag the same version for my disk 1 DiscWorld *was it a mad twist of humour to call that game Discworld....* freaking 15 disk - 1.44mo - *everything works perfect!* Legend of Kyrandia 4 disks - 1.44mo - wonder if it's same version 1.3 that you have here *Works perfectly* Quest for Glory 2 - Trial by Fire 9 disks - 720k 5 disks - 1.2mo (5.25") *All working great !* Microprose Pirates ! 2 disks - 5.25" - *Disk B was good...but disk A is not doing well.. i made a teledisk copy from disk A just in case you could salvage something up.
