Just wanted to check about submitting game manuals that aren't currently available here. If this is okay, do they need to have been scanned by the uploader or are scans from other sources acceptable?

I ask because, in some instances, the copy protection depends on the manual. I know the main aim here is data preservation, but it could be useful for those who wish to play them through. Translated versions can be especially hard to come by.

If the answer is yes, I take it a .7z archive is the appropriate format?

All manuals are accepted regardless of the source or language, and, yes, 7z is ok. But keep in mind that if no related game entry exists we cannot add the manual until someone writes a review on that game.
