Any of you guys try out the latest DosBox?
Finally got Panzer General working on XP, as well as L'Empereur!

I tried it briefly about a month ago, didn't get anything to run, and promptly lost interest again, because it's way easier just to boot my 486 ;)

I just found some games that had problems with XP so I recently tried it out. The only problem is, the games ran really, really slow. I overclocked it, but it didn't get it anywhere near what it needed to be. I poked around the forums and got the general consesus that a 1.7 Ghz computer wouldn't be enough, which I don't even have...
it's stupid to have to have such a powerful computer to do DOS. Might as well have a dual boot.

The speed isn't a big surprise, actually. I recently discovered Dosbox is indeed an emulator, i.e. it emulates the hardware, and not only provides an MS-DOS API for the programs like for example Dosemu does. Emulating hardware eats lots of CPU power.

It is good to know that at least two people got anything to run with it, though. The number of e-mails I get regarding configuration questions about this program are steadily increasing. Of course, none of these people read the FAQ saying I have no clue about it; usual stupidity.

Haven't tried the new version yet, but I deffinitelly will. Panzer General is one of the games I can't play on my old 386 because I've got only the CD version. As such, I see value of the DosBox in emulating DOS games that require their CD.

I know. However, it's not high enough on my priority risk to burden the site's owner with additional bandwidth traffic ;)

It's part of the downloads which don't cost me anything, actually. :D
