Topic: Monkey Island

Do yourself a favour and don't try looking all the answers up somewhere on the Internet. Play it fair. After each question, I'll list the game reference.

1. "You make me want to puke." (MI1)

2. What time is it on Meelee Island? (MI1)

3. What is SCUMM? Name three answers. (MI1)

4. In the International House of Mojo, there is one potion which can cure people of something of which Guybrush claims he "doesn't have that problem any more". What is this problem? (MI2)

5. Which famous pirate recommends the Phatt Island library? Which slogan does he use? (MI2)

1.) "You make me think somebody already did"

2.) 10 o'clock

3.) - an ingredient of grog
- a bar on Melee Island
- Script Creation Utility of Maniac Mansion

4.) The Potion is Called Golden Tongue and is intended to help pirates talk to women

5.) Reginald Blackbeard: "If I could read, I'ld spend all my free time at the Phatt city Library"

Next time, try something at least mildly challenging will you?

The only reason you bet me is because I had to go to school :P

Also, I was sure #4 was a love potion, but I couldn't remember the name of it. (That's where he's looking for a ghost desolving potion, right?)

Ok, Pada1 got it all right - congratulations :D You apparantely had to play the game again to solve this, because I saw you quite a few times on the board without answering :P How did you know about SCUMM being an ingredient of Grog by the way? That is not something many people remember ;)

Second Round (as last time, I'll mix the difficulty a bit in order to give some less gifted people a chance ;))

1. "There are no clever moves that can help you now." (MI1)

2. What does Guybrush say you'd see a picture of if you look up 'empty' in a dictionary? (MI1)

3. What is the name of the fat pirate sitting near the entrance in the SCUMM Bar? (MI1)

4. Why is Herman Toothrott on Dinky Island? (MI2)

5. What is the name of the building shown on the attached picture? Who owned it? (MI2)

6. How many times does the Lucas Arts logo appear in MI2? (MI2 of course :P)

I hadn't played MI1 in about 10 years or so, so I had to replay it once in order to get the answers... And I knew about the scumm-grog link because they told me in the game about it of course ;)

Uh... Could you make this a bit easier next time? I wouldn't exen know most answers if I played the games yesterday... :pain:

1. -
2. -
3. -
4. He's there to spread his philosophy, waiting for students to arrive.
5. Don't rember the name. However, the kitchen of Ratt Scallion (?) is inside, the pirate cook you have to resurrect in order to get one of the map pieces.
6. Once? It's somewhere in Le Chuck's fortress, I guess...

Tapuak: I just followed Pada's wish to make it a bit harder ;) I'm actually surprised you didn't know no. 3, I came up with this without even playing the game again! One hint for that question: it is the same guy who makes fun of Guybrush's name before.
Just for reference - what would you have known from the first set of questions? I can balance it a bit better then.

4. Correct
5. The name of the owner is almost correct. I'll let this pass as a spelling error: Rapp Scallion. Name of the building still missing.
6. You got one spot correct, the overall number is wrong though. Let's see if Pada can answer this :cunning:

Before I even start playing MI2 again to make sure I don't miss any of them, do I have to count the one in the beginning too?

Since I don't think anyone will figure question #6 out, I'll just open the next round. Number 6 is still open though, you're welcome to answer it ;)

7. Where does the name 'Guybrush' come from? (general trivia)

8. Which characters who had cameo appearances in both MI1 and MI2 later got their own game by Lucas Arts? Where do these characters appear in the MI games? (general)

9. Which character (apart from Le Chuck!) can Guybrush kill? (MI1)

10. Where did Rum Rogers die? (MI1)

11. Guybrush takes notes of the lyrics of the song his dead parents perform. What two 'tools' does he use for that? (MI2)

12. What did Wally the cartographer order from the Voodoo Lady?

I hope the difficulty mix is ok this time :)

Pada: if you really want to take the challange, don't write down the number, but write down the places you found the logo. This way, it can be compared objectively with what I found... and no, I have not counted the one in the opening.

I remember the 12th question :) Wasn't that the love potion Eau d'Mojo? It came in a voodoo bag if I'm not mistaken...
