What can I say? I just really hate load-times... so every time I open a link, I open it in the background in a new tab...

Poor RAM and swap partition....

You don't wanna know on what kind of a pc I have to work at home... but even in leuven, where I have a Duron 1 GHz with 620 Meg Ram and more than enough room for my swap partition, I still do this... Not just for the Spam but for every single link I open... unless I have read the entire page and am certain I will not need that page again anytime soon...

I am very interested in more information about whatever programs you were talking about. I hate MSN Messenger and I use it only because I have to.

I went for trillian because Gaim can't handle file transfers and I use those a lot... they both have pro's and cons so you'll have to see which one you prefer... and if you don't like either of these, there are of course others as wel...

Yes, that's right, Trillian offers more features. I'm always for the minimalist of everything though - all this "Internet telephony", "SMS sending", "chat invitation" and file transfer stuff only annoyed me back in the days when I was still using the official ICQ client, so I went 'back to the basics'. If you need any of this, you shouldn't use GAIM of course.

The only thing I like from MSN Messenger is the way it allow you to start up a game within a few clicks if both parties have the same game...

There's also Easy Message, Jabber, and Odigo for messaging.

I always use multiple tabs on the same site when I browse a forum, it beats the hell out of reading a thread, clicking a link or the back button to get back to the list, clicking another thread, clicking a link or back button, etc, etc. When I come here for example, I middle click each of the 3 sections (or as many as have new post indicators), then once in each section, I middle click each thread that I want to read. Once I've clicked all the links I want from a particular page, I close that tab. I often have 6~8 tabs open here (at least until I finish reading/posting in each one, then I close it). On other boards I often have 12~15 tabs open at once, it's infitely more convenient than just using one window.

Same here, under Opera 7.11. There is one more error message on the screen after posting a reply.

Yep, I get the same error. Either the script got screwed up, or the server isn't responding properly (an overloaded server often causes error messages similar to these). Since these errors seem pretty constant though, I think MC was doing something with the script and put in an extra period or something.
Edit: I got the other error on the "your reply has been added, please wait" screen too. I didn't catch all of it, but it ended in "on line 244".

Neither. The problem is that the SQL-database-server has been upgraded to a newer version recently and this version is apparantely buggy - it eats table indexes. It's very easy to repair the affected tables again, but I can of course only do it when I notice it. And since software installation on the server is no longer my responsibility, there is no way to prevent that from happening again (this is the second time it did, once before on another site I'm the admin of).

I got a double post in Home ---> Vox Pops ---> The world's worst Ebay profile after attempting to edit a previous post. Tough it "worked", it seems that it didn't appended the edited text to the old post but created a new one instead following the obsolete one...

Could this be related to the server problems you were talking about?

No and no. Or probably. This post edited ok, though, so I hope it was really just something temporary.

Did you (or another mod) delete the first post yourself? I reloaded the page twice before posting the bug to make sure it wasn't only an error on my end.

I deleted the first post seeing its contents were fully covered by the second one.

I finnaly got over myself and d/l Trillian... After about 2 hours of testing, I came to the conclusion that it's utter crap. Not only it doesn't work with MSN Messenger (which is the reason why I wanted it), but it didn't even save my options when I've exited the program!
What rubbish...

Anyways, I might try Gaim in a near future...

I'm pretty sure it works with MSN Messenger...
