Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11097 | I only just got aware of the fact that the 'Internet Archive' offers numerous ex-commercial movies which are now in public domain in their Feature Films section. All movies can be downloaded in their entirety in several different qualities - up to DVD resolution. Now you might think it's just a bunch of crap movies nobody wants to see anyway. The opposite is the case! Here are a few personal recommendations / examples: Nosferatu - still the best Dracula movie due to its eery expressionist imagery White Zombie - classic zombie horror with a very sinister Bela Lugosi in the lead Carnival of Souls - a surrealistic trip about afterlife Charade - according to IMDB, the 182th best movie of all time; even if I don't agree with that, it's the perfect example of a big-budget 'A' movie being available there D.O.A. - great 'film noir' about a guy who is poisoned and now only has one day left to find his own murderer Dressed to Kill - one of the Sherlock Holmes pieces with Basil Rathbone There's a lot more, of course. I know what I'll use my internet connection for over the next few weeks... ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

It almost drives me mad! Also, where is that little boy's parents, the one who is playing the violin? Doing that out in front of that creep's castle... ----- Keep your stick on the ice |

It's still an archetype of a good horror film. Finally, a quick question about the video formats: MPEG 4 = DIVX, XVID... MPEG 2 = DVD Correct? |

As Tapuak said, it's the role model for all the horror stereotypes which exist today Quote: Right, in fact it's only 183th best. Come on, you know that I meant it's nowhere near being one of the best movies ever Quote: MPEG 4 = DIVX, XVID... Yes. Furthermore, the MPEG2 versions they're hosting have the highest resolution of these choices (not related to the codec, of course).MPEG 2 = DVD ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |
