Member Retired Gumby Posts: 964 | A man called Daniel Craig is going to be the new James Bond actor: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/film/4337224.stm We'll see if his James Bond movies will suck as much as those of Pierce Brosnan did. |

The problem is just that it says Martin Campbell will direct the movie - the same guy who did Goldeneye which isn't exactly a promise for quality. Still interesting to see the third movie conversion of Casino Royale, although I'd much rather have the opportunity to watch the one from the 50s at last. ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Prof Gumby Posts: 607 | While I haven't seen any of the Brosnan films, I thought Goldeneye was regarded as the best of them. They should bring back the real James Bond (Connery), ? la "Never Say Never Again". ----- "One Very Important Thought" |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11126 | Being 'the best' in a stinking bowl of puss is hardly an attribute to brag about Anyway, sorry to say, but I don't like 'Never Say Never Again', either. Can't really put it down to one single aspect, but the whole movie failed to impress me; it all seemed very silly instead of humorous. ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Prof Gumby Posts: 607 | I don't necessarily like 'Never Say Never Again' either, but if the original Thunderball had Roger Moore in it I might feel differently. I was just commenting on the fact that in my opinion, there is still only one true Bond. On the other hand, I'm always amazed at how many people think that Brosnan is actually the 'best' Bond. I've only seen trailers of his films and figured they were right up there with Moonraker when it comes to sillyness: more attention to stunts, gadgets, etc. than an actual story. This thread just made me want to watch the Connery films again. And maybe the one with George Lazenby where Bond marries that hottie from the Avengers. ----- "One Very Important Thought" |

Oh, but until a few days ago (when they announced this new guy would play the role), the producers themselves said Brosnan was the ultimate Bond and the movies were getting better and better with each release, so it has to be true, doesn't it?----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11126 | Moonraker has a great villain and that scene with James Bond riding a horse wearing a poncho is hilarious ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Prof Gumby Posts: 607 | It's funny indeed... but some of the scenes eg. Jaws' love affair in outer space were a bit too much for me. Bond movies should be funny, but not outright ridiculous. ----- "One Very Important Thought" |
