Review by Underdogs:
The Smurfs is a fun platform game based on a wildly popular 80s cartoon (which so popular it even spawned a spinoff called the Snorks -- I'm not making this up). The game succeeds at capturing the bumbling charm and innocence that the Smurfs are known for, with smooth VGA graphics and a lot of surprises.

The plot is the same cutesy material all Smurfs fans are familiar with: as Brainy Smurf (or was it Baker Smurf? I can never tell which), you must help your three-apple-tall village from certain destruction by evil guy Gargamel and his annoying cat Azreal. The best thing about The Smurfs is that each level is well integrated into the plot. In the first scene, for example, you control a happy Smurf who is just walking contentedly in his own village in a peaceful day. The obstacles he must avoid are limited only to water thrown from houses and natural obstacles. In the later levels, however, the obstacles are much more dangerous and life-treatening. I won't spoil any surprises here, but packs enough adrenaline rush to keep you playing. With excellent animations, fun cutscenes, and imaginative obstacles and enemies, The Smurfs is a must have for all Smurfs fans and a lot of fun for platform lovers. Thumbs up!
