Brix

brix1_001.png
Epic Megagames 1992
Genre: Puzzle
Rating: 5/6
Licence: Shareware
System: PC

Brix is a unique puzzle game in the sense that you can move blocks instead of just swapping places with another. This does create a huge barrier in the later levels when you may be fighting not one, but multiple times events.

Epic MegaGames 1993
Genre: Action, Sport
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Shareware
System: PC

Another pinball game to introduce. Epic Pinball, like its name says, is epic for a pinball game on PC. This game was made by Epic MegaGames in 1993, now known Epic Games (Gears of War, Jazz Jackrabbit, Unreal Tournament). It was never released initially in retail stores. It was distributed as shareware with one table named Android, then you could order the game available in 3 packs with 4 tables each. So here the description of each tables + my little review on each.

Epic Megagames 1994
Genre: Action
Rating: 5/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

What would happen if you gave Sonic the Hedgehog a huge gun and made him into a rabbit? Well, you end up getting Jazz Jackrabbit. Developed by Epic Megagames in 1994, Jazz Jackrabbit is a fast paced Sidescroller full of enemies to blast and tons of levels. The story is very simple, an evil turtle named Devan Shell has kidnapped the rabbit princess and Jazz is the only one who can save her and stop Deven Shell from ruling the world.

One Must Fall 2097

Epic Megagames 1994
Genre: Action
Rating: 5.5/6
Licence: Freeware
System: PC

Its emerging shareware scene was one of the main draws towards the IBM PC platform for gaming in the early 1990s. Unlike the tightly controlled games console ecosystems, this platform gave smaller developers opportunities to make something against the usual conventions and consequently drew players as well.

Solar Winds: The Escape

Epic MegaGames 1993
Genre: Action
Rating: 3/6
Licence: Shareware
System: PC

Solar Winds is primarily a top-down 2D shooter against a classic sci-fi backdrop published by Epic MegaGames (the forerunner to the modern Epic Games) in 1992. The game is split into two episodes where the first was disrupted freely as shareware and the second was available through mail order to users who paid the registration fee.

Unreal

Epic MegaGames 1998
Genre: Action
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Sporting the tagline "Alter your reality... forever", Unreal promises an experience to remember. It doesn't disappoint either, with excellent engine technology, art direction and music.
