Bundesliga Manager Hattrick

bmh_001.png
KRON Software / Software 2000 1994
Genre: Sport, Strategy
Rating: 5/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Following Bundesliga Manager and Bundesliga Manager Professional, Bundesliga Manager Hattrick is the third part of the Bundesligamanager series by Software 2000. As the name suggests, you have to manage a football club in BMH. You can either start out in the first division (Bundesliga) or, if that is too boring to you, try to work your way up with a club from second division or even lower. Apart from that, you can also choose to manage a national team – on the side of your club or exclusively. It is even possible to play with up to four players on the same computer.

Bundesliga Manager Professional

Software 2000 1992
Genre: Strategy, Sport
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Visiting an old acquaintance... you probably know that, not having seen each other for a long time. Maybe you think back how it was. The good old days together... back then... you have lots of fun, it was wild times, fun times and so on. Now you're facing this old friend again - and... now what? Often, everything is different. Time has cut a rift you can't bridge anymore. You two have become alienated. That's a pity then. Then, there are the cases in which you stand face to face and it is almost like no day has passed at all.

Christoph Kolumbus

go_000.png
Software 2000 1994
Genre: Strategy
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC, Amiga (OCS/ECS)

The strategic business simulation Christoph Kolumbus was public in February 1994 by "Software 2000" on the PC and the Amiga. On the Internet, the game is sometimes called a clone of The Patrician, because it was designed by Martin Wölk who was also involved in said other game. I see more parallels with the Amiga/C64 game Spoils of War from the year 1992, though, because the game is about discovering surrounding islands from one's home base, settle and develop them, but selling goods and building new ships or military units is only possible in the home base. A free form of trade like in The Patrician where you can buy and sell goods whereever you want is not possible, you can only trade at your home harbour.

Das Stundenglas

stundenglas01.png
Weltenschmiede / Software 2000 1990
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 3/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga

It was the year 1990 and a small development team called Weltenschmiede (World Smiths) aspired to become the German Magnetic Scrolls. Text adventures had never been a big number in the German speaking part of the world – but nevertheless, they wanted it to work with graphically illustrated ones now (better late than never?). Today, we know how successfully this went.

Death or Glory: Das Erbe von Morgan

First Step / Software 2000 1994
Genre: Strategy
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga
An army is invading a cliché kingdom. Its ruler suspects his illegitimate son Xhor behind it all. Xhor's half-brother Raven cannot believe it, leading to a fall-out with his father and banishment. With few remaining loyal men, Raven now wants to find the vanished Xhor, clear his name and also find and extinguish the real source of these attacks.

Der Schatz im Silbersee

silbersee01.png
Linel / Software 2000 1994
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 3/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Der Schatz im Silbersee (roughly 'Treasure in the Silver Lake') is one of the best known stories by author Karl May and thus clearly needs no introduction. Phew, great how I got away with not having read that book and still reviewing this game, isn't it?

Die Höhlenwelt-Saga: Der leuchtende Kristall

hw01.png
Weltenschmiede / Software 2000 1994
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 1.5/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

[Mr Creosote] The "Höhlenweltsaga" (roughly: "Saga of Cave World") is the first Point & Click Adventure made by the Bavarian development studio "Weltenschmiede". Before this, they were known for their three illustrated Text Adventures: Das Stundenglas, Die Kathedrale and Hexuma. For these three games, there had been accompanying novels or at least short stories already. The same happened with Höhlenwelt: Main author Harald Evers wrote eight novels based on this world later.

Die Kathedrale

cat_000.png
Software 2000 1991
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 5/6
Licence: Freeware
System: PC, Amiga (OCS/ECS)

Imagine you are in the city of Schönau and you visit the St. Paul's Cathedral, meeting an old friend from your school days. The girl separates you from the group and you find a couple of old letters and because you are now late and got away unnoticed, you are both locked into the cathedral over the weekend. This is how the adventure game Die Kathedrale, which has been spruced up with graphics, begins. After studying the discovered texts, your protagonist and his friend that it is exactly this weekend that a revenge spree planned centuries ago by the architect should now take place. This architect, a Victor Paz, was an opponent of the inquisition and he supervised the construction of the cathedral. That is why he had the means to include some traps which should be triggered only centuries later.

Die Stadt der Löwen oder The Final Singapore Sling

StadtDerLoewen01.png
PM Entertainment / Software 2000 1989
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 3/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga

Singapore, Lion City. This is where the trail leads when a Japanese business man and former general of the royal army is murdered by a prostitute in London. Investigative journalists Christine and Robert smell a story, and the game's plot follows them. However, the player takes over the role of Taiko, member of a Japanese secret society, who apparently supports the two in some way.

Eishockey Manager

eisman_01.png
Software 2000 1993
Genre: Strategy, Sport
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Although Eishockey Manager is a game in its own it should be considered more a sideproduct of the successful Manager series by Software 2000. If you know Bundesliga Manager Professional then you'll be comfortable with this game at once because the menus are basically the same.
