Hidden Agenda

Springboard 1988
Genre: Strategy
Rating: 6/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Regarding the topic, this is one of the most original games ever. It belongs to the once almost nonexistant and now completely deceased genre of politic simulations. While most representatives of this limit themselves to foreign affairs, Hidden Agenda concentrates mainly on domestic policy and its effect on international relationships.

History Line 1914-1918

Blue Byte 1992
Genre: Strategy
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

This was most likely supposed to be the start of a series of historical games based on the Battle Isle engine. At least the subheading "1914-1918" points to that. Because there were no sequels, History Line as a bridge between Battle Isle 1 and 2 was forgotten quickly. Wrongly as I think. After all it is still an independent (good) game because of its peculiarities.

Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy

Infocom 1987
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Finally. Finally I have the guts to put this up. My childhood love. My introduction to the Interactive Fiction world. Aah.

Based upon a world famous series of books by world renowned Science Fiction author Douglas Adams (who also wrote Starship Titanic, great game, it has the very best in sarcastic game humour you'll ever see), this game sets you as the loser Arthur Dent in one hell of a mess.

Hole in One Miniature Golf

Digitek Software 1989
Genre: Action, Sport
Rating: 3/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
Miniature Golf, as all kinds of Pool, is essentially a geometry game. As such, it lends itself well to the computer game medium, as the way from cause to effect is a clear mathematical derivation. On the other hand, the issue lies with the computer-controlled players. Due to the very same nature of all possible actions being calculable, they could play perfectly, which of course wouldn't be a whole lot of fun to compete against. Though Miniature Golf, unlike Pool, can also be enjoyed without any opponent…

Holiday Maker

PM Entertainment / Software 2000 1988
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 3/6

System: Amiga, Amiga (CDTV)

Hollywood Pictures

Starbyte 1995
Genre: Strategy
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Well, who ever wasn't angry about watching a highly praised movie in the cinema which turned out to be quite bad? I guess everyone so with this game you have the chance to make movies with your own imagination. From the script up to the costumes you have all things in your hands.

Ocean 1992
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 2.5/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga

[Wandrell] Maybe some of you remember a film that around twenty years ago tried to give a twist to Peter Pan's story. Well, it did share name with this game, and it's not by chance, as here we have the adaptation of Spielberg's Hook.

Hot Wheels

Mattel / Epyx 1985
Genre: Simulation
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: C64

Back in the 90s, 'action toys' were the market. The leading company was Mattel with their action figures ('Barbie for boys'). And there were these toy cars. Completely unlike the car models which existed before and served only 'museum values', these little metal (or plastic if it had to be cheap) vehicles were actually designed for children playing with them! I, for example, held 'ramming contests': causing two cars to crash frontally and the one which falls upside down loses.

Hugo på Nye Eventyr

ITE / Interactive Television Entertainment 1994
Genre: Action
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Do you recognize him? Why, it's Hugo the TV Troll from the 90's television game show! Now watch him jump off your TV screen and get inside your computer! Synopsis so far: your wife and kids have been kidnapped by the evil sorceress Scylla (Hexana in german version) and guess what, now you have to rescue them. Only it will cost you a risky journey where you will have to use your utmost discretion, reaction, but thankfully little brain, cause thinking is not Hugo's best faculty.

Hugo's House of Horrors

Gray Design Associates 1990
Genre: Adventure, Action
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Hugo's House of Horrors is the first of three text-controlled adventure game created by Gray Design Associates. The controls are similar to the Sierra titles of the same style. You use arrow keys for character movement and you type in commands to complete tasks. The parser used for input is very limited, but this isn’t a problem since most parsers of the time suffered this same problem.
