An urgent job sends you to GenCorp, where a man called Derrida urgently needs a parcel. But something has happened and the place is filled with bio-weapons and security systems through which you will have to find your way.

Damocles: Mercenary II

damocles01.png
Novagen 1990
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 5/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Atari ST

The 21st Century (hint: this is meant to be the future ;)). Interplanetary travel has become normal. Many planets in the nearby solar systems have been colonized. Nations have grown to the size of whole planets.

Dangerous Dave in the Haunted Mansion

davem01.png
Softdisk Publishing 1991
Genre: Action
Rating: 2/6
Licence: Shareware
System: PC

Dave goes to a haunted mansion for… Well, who cares? You are on a haunted mansion with a shotgun and plenty of monsters to kill. The game promises little, gives not much more and gets close to being fun.

Dangerous Streets

DangerousStreets01.png
Micromania / Flair 1993
Genre: Action
Rating: 1/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga

When Dangerous Streets was originally released, it was the only fighting game on the CD32. What an opportunity, being the first in a popular genre on a new game console! Unfortunately, I cannot get that version to run, so I'll be examining the A1200 floppy version instead. The eight selectable fighters are of the superhero kind. It's somewhat surprising that nobody had a go at this theme in this genre before, it's such a perfect match!

Dark Legions

dlegions01.png
Silicon Knights / SSI 1994
Genre: Strategy, Action
Rating: 5/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Another battle between good and evil... angels locked in combat with demons, white against dark magic and so on. Which has nothing to do with this game, because Dark Legions has two evil fractions fighting each other. So it's demons versus demons. Apparantely, each fraction wants the other's magical orb, and their soldiers are prepared to kill and die for it.

Dark Seed

darkseed01.png
Cyberdreams 1992
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 3/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga

One of the better known Adventures from the early 90s, Darkseed features classic horror with the help of well-known Swiss artist H.R. Giger who also designed the monsters for 'Alien' (the movie). Your alter ego has just moved in an old villa in a small village. It was a real bargain! Suddenly, he gets this strange headache which is unbearable without the help of a lot of pills and from the first night in the house on, he gets weird nightmares about..... alien-like creatures.

Dark Seed II

darkseed201.png
Cyberdreams 1995
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 3/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

After Mike Dawson saved the world from the 'Ancients' in Dark Seed, he had a nervous breakdown (somehow understandable considering what he went through). To recover, he moved back to his mother who still lives in his old home town where he spent his childhood. A year has passed, and Mike still isn't feeling too well. One day, his ex-girlfriend Rita is murdered. Mike's the prime suspect, and he can't remember a thing of what happened that night...

Darkiss! Wrath of the Vampire - Chapter 2: Journey to Hell

darkiss201.png
Marco Vallarino 2016
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 3/6
Licence: Freeware
System: Interpreter

I quite enjoyed the first part of this "saga" last year, so I was looking forward to this one. And then, the competition randomiser put it right at the bottom. Nevertheless, I made it! Anyway, there seems to be a jump in narrative compared to where the first one ended. There, vampire Martin Voigt had only just escaped his tomb. Now, he's already well on his way to fulfil his plans for world domination.

Darklands

darklands01.png
Microprose 1992
Genre: RPG
Rating: 5.5/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Darklands is partially an historic game, but also partially a fantasy game based on the medieval myths of the christianism, of witches and of goblins. With your party of four adventurers you go around the 15th century german empire in search of fame. You will travel around the country, being asked for tasks or asking for them in cities, scorting pilgrims, freeing villages from the pillages of raubritters (robber knights), getting rid of paganic dangers and goblins or even, if you want bigger tasks, looking for the places the sabbats are celebrated and giving an end to them.

Darkmere: The Nightmare's Begun

darkmere01.png
Zero Hour / Core Design 1994
Genre: Action, RPG
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga

The Darkmere, some sort of curse, has come over the land. Good thing the local king is a trusted hero! Well, it would be, if he hadn't grown old and fragile by now. So he hands his magic sword (with vampiric qualities, healing its wielder when it strikes an evil creature) and the responsibility over to his son Ebryn. Whose task it is now to defeat the evil dragon responsible for the mess.
