Avalon

Hewson Consultants 1984
Genre: Action, Adventure
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: ZX Spectrum

The Dark Ages are closing in. You are a wandering lore-seeker in 5th century Britain. Oh look, you've been given a magical staff and a map, and for some wild reason you must now travel to Isle of Glass (Avalon?). There at the foot of the Glass Hill you shall dispatch your soul undeground into dismal dungeons to remotely locate and banish Avelach the Lord of Chaos, who according to this old witch's prophecy shall soon bring down terrible calamities and the end of the world as we know it. Firstly, though, you must overcome his perplexing maze and its ghastly denizens to prove yourself a skilled sorcerer and a worthy opponent...

Batman Forever

Acclaim 1996
Genre: Action
Rating: 2/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Gotham City. The decadent abode of violence, murderous crimes, mad supervillains and never-ending darkness and gloom. Ever occured to you that even the very name suggests a certain gothic connotation? Once again our DC hero in black cape and mask must save the day and this time his target is The Riddler along with his disfigured accomplice Two-Face, formerly a good friend of Bruce Wayne aka Batman, but now a sick nutjob with multiple personality disorder. Their henchmen are a good old bunch of cold-hearted goons, thugs and various trick-or-treaters gone loony. Well, Batman, that sounds like right up your alley!

Battle Chess

chess_000.png
Interplay 1989
Genre: Puzzle, Strategy
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Behold the most unusual and exotic chess game yet, where all the pieces have been brought to life and are ready to re-enact in combat mode what has up till now lingered in your fancy only (if at all). In this game you enjoy not only the great many entangled schemes and clever tactics of capturing and checkmating your opponent as per established tradition, but also the great many ways of graphic violence and execution which is the house special here and possible only in a computer game. Hence Battle Chess.

Casanova

casanova01.png
Iber Soft 1989
Genre: Action
Rating: 2/6
Licence: Commercial
System: ZX Spectrum

If I had to describe this game with just one word it would be simply "AAARGH!". But later to that. Ahem. Thou art Casanova, the infamous venetian dandy and the legendary playboy of XVIII century. Who knows him not? Alas, in this adventure thou art not to seduce and conquer more and more damsels despite thy highest expectations, but rather tend to the consequences of thy many practical jokes, knavery, heresy and fornication. As ye sow, so shall ye reap. Tonight is the night that thou flee from Venice and avoid contact with some of thy old "friends", vexed customers and besotted wives.

CatFight: The Ultimate Female Fighting Game

catfight01.jpg
Phantom Card 1996
Genre: Action
Rating: 0/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

And now I'm proud to present... simply the worst fighting game ever made. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not a sexist, but the following product is as bad as it can get with or without women in it. This game offers everything your average player wouldn't tolerate: bad graphics, bad audio, bad moves, bad controls, and ultimately bad experience. And believe me, I'm only writing this review cause I had no choice in the matter and I seriously wish I could get away with just one screen and one big "crap" word occupying the review section.

Cobra Mission: Panic in Cobra City

cm_031.png
MegaTech 1992
Genre: Adventure, RPG
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Private eye + Playboy = Private dick? Indeed, in this game you can be an excellent detective as well as incorrigible womanizer. At last your title is justified! But shhh... you don't know about it just yet. What you do know is that Cobra City has been shaken by series of alarming events. People are dissappearing, streets gangs are running loose, police are disbanded and it's time that you investigate what's causing disturbance. Together with your charming female partner you will disentangle one case after another until eventually you pick up the trail of a mysterious criminal overlord known as Kaiser.

Color Lines

lines_001.png
Gamos Ltd 1992
Genre: Puzzle, Strategy
Rating: 3/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Color Lines is a turn-based board game released by russian company Gamos Ltd, which is one of the four games in Gamos puzzle series and is the most known of all. I first saw it as a kid somewhere in 1995 and immediately began to hate it, because thinking was never my virtue. It is curious that the programming part was conducted entirely by a woman (Olga Demina) and the lovely EGA graphics by male duo Igor Ivkin and Gennady Denisov. The game was quite popular amid other 90's office games and was invariably sheltered on every PC user's hard drive or a floppy disk.

Eden Blues

ERE Informatique 1987
Genre: Action, Adventure
Rating: 3/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

...And the next thing you know you're in prison. Whatever crime you commited bears no importance, but what truly matters is that you're now behind bars and have to find your way out of here ASAP. Besides, what could be more romantic than escaping from a slammer? But beware, this isn't your typical prison, for there are not even guards to tease and jeer at nor fellow convicts to bully or share ciggies with. Here you are all alone, save for a bunch of security droids that seek to interfere with your plans for escape. There are also traps and other harmful devices set around to make your life difficult, so all you need now is just a little bit of luck and perseverance... if only not a whole lot more.

Eric and the Floaters

Having problems with floaters? Not to worry! Eric is in the house and that means floaters will have to go! We provide our customers with best service and free insurance against partial damage or complete loss of property if incurred. Don't wait any longer, call now: 1-800-GET-BOMBED! Wondering what the original Bomberman game was? You are now beholding it! Though, only the japanese release happen to bear the familiar title and I personally played the european version which accounts for the currently chosen name.
