Brutal Sports Football

bsf-aga01.png
Millenium 1994
Genre: Sport, Action
Rating: -
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga, Amiga (OCS/ECS), PC
This is the AGA version of Brutal Sports Football (meaning it's been made for A1200 / CD32). The graphics have been impoved compared to the original ECS version (more colourful). The game itself is identical apart from one single new weapon (a throwing axe). On the whole, a nice improvement (this is definitely the best version of the game).

Fields of Glory

Microprose 1994
Genre: Strategy
Rating: -
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga, Amiga (OCS/ECS), Amiga (AGA)
The CD version of Fields of Glory adds a "database" of historical armies and their commanders in the simulated battles. This is basically of no use, but nevertheless, it is unclear why this needs a CD (hint: it doesn't). The controls with the gamepad are awkward as expected. Otherwise, this version is identical to the AGA one.

Microcosm

Psygnosis 1994
Genre: Action
Rating: 2/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga

As Commodore went bankrupt, it wasn't just them, but there was a whole industry linked to the Amiga which now feared for its existence. Games magazines, whose independence had always been in question anyway (I swear, one day I'm going to write something dedicated to this subject), reacted with defiance. Of course it couldn't be over! So every new game was celebrated… especially if it was a release backed by major marketing power.

Pirates! Gold

Microprose 1994
Genre: Strategy, Action
Rating: 6/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga, PC

First of all, all comparisons are referring to the original Pirates! and the PC version of Pirates! Gold. Read the first review for a detailed covering of the gameplay itself. It is almost identical in this version.

Ultimate Body Blows

Team 17 1994
Genre: Action
Rating: 3/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga

The Body Blows competition goes into its final round. Released about six months after Galactic, the best way to describe it is probably "that CD version of Body Blows". Which has all the fighters of the two previous games. Which, if we're honest, should have been the case in the second one already, because, you know, Street Fighter II did it that way.
