Yeah, that too, have you played the old EGA PQ1 game without some slowdown program? Even at the slowest speed the car flys off the screen and crashes :D

We had PQ1 on our old comp on big floppy disks, the black and yellow monitor, I think it was an 86 or something like that. I finished it on that, the said computer is now in our roof :P
I did have PQ1 on this computer at one stage but being a pentium 200 and all I had no problems.

Got to agree with Police Quest I.

Also, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, the sequence in the Zeppelin, where you had to avoid the German soldiers. I never got through it, no matter how many times I tried. In the next game, you could at least cheat in the fights (which I always did), but here you were screwed...

Yes, the zeppelin was the worst. This is where I stopped playing the first time, later I did it in several hours of work (read: luck) to avoid as many soldiers as possible. In the other mazes (Venice, Austrian castle), there were at least some puzzles, but none in the zeppelin - just fighting :pain:

Maybe you should have taken the biplane then... That's how I did it... :P

Yes, but their was one on the runway on the airfield too; but in order to take off you had to have the manual, which can be found in the Venice library. I think most fighting can be avoided like this in Indy games...

Me, too. Honestly, I never really tried to get through this part because I was seriously getting tired of the fighting, whereupon I stopped playing.

So basically, you had to search a whole library before. Very practical. Did anyone not get shot down immediately in the biplane by the way? What's the use of this scene anyway, I got shot down and the game continued as normal....

Well, in the nazi castle you could find a pass to get through the border controls, but if you didn't have it, you had to go through every checkpoint and try to convince the guards to let you pass... Some were unpassable without a fight, and keeping the plane in the air longer reduced the number of checkpoints you had to pass...
The crash site is always exactly the same though :)

Since I only played that post-zeppelin part once, I could never compare how many checkpoints there were ;) I don't remember much of the game after the zeppelin anyway. There was the biplane, then the driving through the checkpoints and then? The next thing I can remember are the final trials which were pretty annoying, too :(

The checkpoints are between the nazi castle (in Austria) and the airport (in Germany), aren't they?

Well, I don't think there was actually something in between those checkpoints and the final trials... :)

The Last Crusade took me years to finish (yes, go ahead and laugh) so I played most parts plenty of times... It's not completely linear, which was pretty great at the time, but of course not comparable to the Fate of Atlantis which has much more different ways to go...

I never finished it, so why should I laugh? ;)

Tapuak: No, they are on the escape from Germany. No idea how the player got from the castle to Germany in the first place.

Mole: What was there in between in the movie? Don't remember....

Strangely enough, neither do I... As the matter of fact, I don't even remember if the game had the scene where your father gets shot etc... like in the movie...

What I do remember is that you use a motorcycle to get to the airport, and that you indeed have to pass one checkpoint (the borderline)... I think you could bribe your way through that one...

By the way anyone ever notice that the color of the guards' words tells you something on how to approach them? I must have played this game waaay to much ;)

No, I did not notice that, and yes, you did ;) We can certainly agree that the game's storytelling was not too great with all the important pieces missing...
