Review by Underdogs:
The Edifice is the worthy winner of the third Annual Interactive Fiction Competition, held in 1997. It's one of the rare games that manage to integrate puzzles with plot seamlessly-- as a caveman in prehistoric times going through mankind's evolutionary stages, every puzzle you come across is the matter of life and death. The game also has one of the most memorable and unique puzzles in recent memory: learning a completely foreign language.
