Review by Oldwolf:
King of Dragon Pass combines elements of roleplaying, strategy (resource management) and simulation into a very unique game. The game is placed in late-Bronze Age fantasy world Glorantha, a world resembling Viking legends added with lots of magic.

In every season of this turn-based game, there are many events that require your decisions, most of which are not just random encounters but consequences of earlier decisions. This makes the game complex and interesting. Also, every season you can have your clan do two specific things, such as exploring a certain part of the world, trying to plunder your neighbour in a raid, making trade treaties, etc. The catch here is that you always should do more than a few of those - but you have to prioritize. For every decision, the advisors you've chosen from among the clan leaders give you their biased opinions on what should be done based on their own traits and beliefs.

It takes a couple of games to learn what the most important things are when you want to make things go smoothly ("everything affects everything else"), but after that it becomes easy and enjoyable. A large number of different starting situations and random happenings keep the game interesting even after you've finished it a couple of times. In short, this game is a must for anyone that has liked good ol' pen-and-paper RPG's, definitely recommended for anyone interested in RPG's/Strategy.
