Review by Underdogs:
Bethesda's second game based on the hit Terminator movie sports a much-improved game engine that displays impressive graphics, but also has quite a few bugs. The game could be considered a "remake" of The Terminator, Bethesda's first game in this series, since the plot is the same and gameplay is very similar. The plot goes as follows: "Los Angeles, 2029 A.D. As one of Col. John Conner's Special Operations Group, you have been chosen to wear the Advanced Combat Armor. Originally designed by Skynet Command, it has been captured by the Resistance and modified to terminate Skynet Assault Forces with more than a dozen lethal weapon systems. But it won't be easy--the Terminators, Hunter-Killers, Eradicators and Scorpions will make sure of that."

As in the first game, your task is to battle your way through the scarred ruins of L.A. in the epic battle of the future. Gameplay retains the original's fast-paced and furious action, with much-improved graphics and less confusing city layout. However, there are several annoying bugs that mute the gaming experience somewhat. None of them is game-crashing though, but you'd best find a patch to be sure. Bethesda later released Operation Scour add-on, which adds a new area to the game and many more tough enemies.

With good graphics, addictive action, and a wide variety of weapons, Terminator 2029 is a must have for every action game enthusiast... bugs notwithstanding. Be warned, though: the later levels are quite difficult even on the easiest setting-- be prepared to play some levels over and over again, until you either get it right, or your patience runs out <G>.
