I expected nothing less of you ;)

Anyway, the review about Daredevil I read at The Fourth Rail sounded mildly positive and since I've never really been a regular reader of Daredevil, I couldn't care less about the changes from the comic - therefore, I tend to believe them more than you :P

Wow! This is easily one of the most clueless reviews of the movie I've read so far, and I've read a lot of them. There is only one thing I agree with: Daredevil is almost as bad as Spider-Man...

That's interesting since the review mentions exactly the same points you do :P

It doesn't. It says that Daredevil and Kingpin were great, and that Bullseye sucked. It also thinks that the deviation from the comic book is good, while I say it sucked. It's been far more positive towards the fights than I have been. However, it's what they said about different characters that really threw me off.

Exactly my point: they talk about the same aspects of the movie you did. I never claimed they value them in the same way :P

Well, I wouldn't date a 30-pixel porn star that likes to "Eat 'em" off an apartment complex, but I guess that's just my own opinion.

Anyone seen this Spike Jones movie called Bamboozled? I enjoyed it very much. It kept me thinking about it a whole week after.

The Story
Sorry, I'm not giving anything away. For comic book nerds, I'll say that the movie is based on God Loves, Man Kills by Chris Claremont.

Pros
* Script. I think the script was much better than the original. The scope of the story is much greater, and the X-Men are becoming real superheroes, not only teenagers with some problems. In addition to introducing new mutants, you will be able to catch glimpses of others who may be introduced next time, such as Gambit and Beast.
* Soundtrack. Unlike in Daredevil where the soundtrack got into the way, here it perfectly matches the action, and simply enhances it. You need to pay close attention to actually hear it, but even if you don't the effects are astounding.
* Wolverine. He's getting most of the action (I mean killing; he passes his only chance for sex). This is one of the best comic book characters translation on the big screen - he is as much an animal as in the comic books.
* Jean Grey. I can't help myself; I still think that Famke Janssen is the most beautiful woman ever.

Cons
* Directing. Most of the time the directing is pretty standard, but there are moments that last a little too long or are a little too cheesy, especially in the end. I could live without it.
* Special effects. I'm not a big fan of special effects in general, but this is the X-Men, for god's sake! Throw at me the best you can do, and I will want more. Instead, we get very good Nightcrawler effect, pretty decent effects involving weather and water, and really awful fire effects.
* Acting. In some cases, the acting was sub-par. Probably the worst culprit was Halle Berry, whom I didn't like as Storm in the first movie, and she is just marginally better here. Aaron Stanford (Pyro) was a person I'll forget very quickly, and Patrick Stewart didn't get any chance to show off. On a personal note, I also found it quite disturbing that Nightcrawler's English accent was better than his German accent.

Final verdict
Go see. If you don't expect an action/special effects masterwork, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I haven't seen X-Men 2 yet, but I have never seen Halle Berry do a decent, let alone good, job at acting.

I have received a lot of good ratings for this movie. Might be because it been a long while since any good movie got released since some time tough.

Considering her role in "Die Another Day" (James Bond), she is one of the worst actors I've ever seen. I don't remember that acted in the first X-Men though. Probably she was too bad. ;)

Well, as you know I was trying to concentrate on the cinema and not on the movie. ;) However, I completely agree the movie was pretty boring, especially it became more uninteresting the longer it lasted. Then there was the terrible acting of Halle Berry, Pierce Brosnan who was less motivated than ever, and a bunch of classic movie mistakes: At the beginning, James Bond gets into prison and he's tortured. Cut, "14 months later", and Bond has a mullet as if he has not had a haircut for three years. ;)
