I was wondering whether there is such a thing as a generic sound card driver for DOS. I'm a little sick of playing games under pure DOS without sound, and Dell doesn't provide custom DOS drivers anymore...

Since there was never a consistent standard for sound cards under DOS, I'll answer 'I don't think so'. If your sound card is by hardware compatible to Soundblaster or something, you could try these drivers though.

Ouch. It is a generic card that came with the computer. I guess I'll have to try different drivers and pray one would work :(

Soundblaster is the closest thing to a de facto standard in sound cards, and most of those on-board things are SB compatible. Try the Soundblaster PCI DOS drivers at www.creative.com. Those might work.
